The Hellenic Olympic Committee wants to publicly express its thanks to the Greek Government, which, during these difficult times, included athletes, clubs, sports associations, and the Hellenic Olympic Committee itself in the support measures for those affected by the interruption of their activities due to the coronavirus.
The request of the sports bodies was immediately accepted by the Deputy Minister of Sports Lefteris Avgenakis, who informed the competent Ministers and achieved the acceptance of the fair request. This is perhaps the first time that Greek sports have been supported in a time of crisis, a fact that should be noted, as it is a fair and equal treatment of the sports family in relation to the majority of Greek society which rightly enjoys the care and support of the State in the fight against the deadly pandemic.
It is our hope that the coronavirus crisis will be overcome quickly and with minimal negative consequences, so that sports can return to normal. Until then... let's stay home!
