As president of the Board of Directors of the Chania Regional Tourism Authority, I am obliged to answer again the questions raised in my first response to a relevant report on the website. ZARPANEWS.GR, after his radio show Mr. Makis Kartsonakis in ZARPARADIO 89.6, regarding the replacement of the boiler at the Nea Chora swimming pool.
Unfortunately, however, instead of this second response of mine being published by this particular media outlet, this never happened, failing to adhere to basic journalistic ethics!
As for the rumors about his resignation and replacement, Mr. Manolis Bouzakis which were reproduced on a Chania sports website, I inform you that Mr. Bouzakis remains as a member of the Board of Directors of the Chania Sports Association.
Our second answer in detail:
Distinguished gentlemen,
Reading the questions - comments you raised in the detailed response that we sent you and published on your medium, we must respond again, so as not to create false impressions among your readers.
As you may know, the procedures of the State and the time-bureaucratic constraints are such that they do not allow for the processing of cases from one day to the next, much more so when it comes to tenders and procurements.
So, in response to your new questions, we have the following to mention:
First: The Board of Directors of the Chania Municipal Council has indeed been informed for a month about the issue that arose with the new boiler. And the reactions were more than immediate. We therefore reiterate that it was called again neutral engineer (neither from our side nor from the supplier) so that a new report could be drawn up and the Receiving Committee could give an opinion, which was done a few days ago, as soon as it received the report in its hands. As for the compliance application provided for in public procurement tenders, it was done on Thursday and posted on DIAVGEIA on Friday, so your report was of no help at all, as something like this would have happened anyway. This is the reality.
Second: The work that had to be carried out by the contractor required the closure of the two smaller swimming pools. During these works, and indeed in their very first stage, it was found that the boiler did not meet the specifications of the tender. From then on, do not invoke the issue of time again, as you are very well aware of the time-consuming procedures of the State. The administration of the Chania Nautical Club is fully informed of all the above.
Thirdly: For the observance of the health measures at the Chania swimming pool, which you mention, the P.E. of the Chania Public Swimming Pool bears no responsibility. Obviously, the operation of all three swimming pools would facilitate training. So we ask… What should have been done? Should the P.E. violate the law, should the boiler be confiscated and should the swimming pools operate as they are? Perhaps then you would have accused us of something different.
In conclusion, not only is it not our intention to leave the swimming pool to its fate, on the contrary, every possible effort is being made in collaboration with the National Sports Council for its operation, but also with the Deputy Ministry of Sports and the OAK to accelerate the procedures for its reconstruction. And all this - unfortunately - just one day after the amendment was passed in Parliament for the building conditions of the existing sports facility. And the wise man thinks...
