The drafting of a National Strategic Plan for Sports was announced by the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports, Lefteris Avgenakis, announcing the immediate organization of open three-day events in the capitals of all 13 Regions of our country, under the title "National Strategic Plan for Sports, Partners in the Future of Sports", for the co-formulation of its preparation.
Following the six sports reform laws passed in the last 2.5 years, the Deputy Minister of Sports emphasized that "for the first time in history, we are bringing all those involved to the same table. We are discussing with the entire sports family: With the Olympic champions, the champions, the professional and amateur athletes, the Paralympic champions and athletes with disabilities, the coaches, the sports clubs, the federations, the sports stakeholders, the organizers, the sports volunteers, the local government.
We dare to publicly discuss and confront issues such as mismanagement, violence, doping, manipulation and sexual harassment in sport. We give a voice to our athletes, listen to the weak and strengthen amateur sport, which is the foundation of our sporting edifice. We forge relationships of honesty and trust.
We connect the top of the pyramid with the base of the sports family. We put our commitments into practice.” Mr. Avgenakis pointed out that the events for the “National Strategic Plan for Sports, Teammates in the Future of Sports”, starting with the Region of Western Greece and Patras (April 8-10), will include:
* On the one hand, the organization of a two-day open Conference, with the participation of local communities, regional sports bodies, Municipalities, Chambers, sports professionals, etc.
* On the other hand, the organization of a "Sports Exhibition" on developments in the sector, trends, new technologies and sports tourism, the introduction of amateur clubs and non-popular sports, the promotion of e-Sports, the promotion of new sports items and products and the presentation of Greek regions as centers of sports tourism.
The Deputy Minister of Sports concluded by emphasizing: "We invite you all to become Teammates in the Reform. In this goal, we are all on the "same team", one team! No one can and should be left behind. Sports and its future want us all together! In the new era of sports that is unfolding, we must be protagonists and not observers. Together, we are co-shaping the future of sports for our country, in our country."
