Miracles of the Virgin Mary are happening! SYRIZA Chania remembered to deal with the sports facilities of the prefecture and especially with the National Swimming Pool, just to make up for its non-existence and incompetence for four whole years!
They should be blushing with shame before this announcement, but who lost the shame to find it in SYRIZA Chania...
We inform them, therefore, because they were in a hurry and as usual made a mistake, that since 13/07/2020, when the Deputy Minister of Sports, Lefteris Avgenakis, visited the facilities of the Chania Sports Complex, and within a month, the following has happened:
- The removal of the 25-meter swimming pool's roof has been initiated, as 92,000 euros from the EAK's cash reserves are in our treasury.
- On 22-23/07, just 10 days after Mr. Avgenakis' visit, a two-day inspection was carried out by a three-member team from the Technical Services Directorate of the General Secretariat of the Interior, which descended on Chania upon his order.
- The team determined that the small pool's roof must also be removed, fully documented the deficiencies and recorded the necessary studies that will be needed to modernize the sports infrastructure and upgrade the swimming pools' energy efficiency.
- For the faster preparation of the studies, a "Memorandum of Cooperation" is being prepared by the General Secretariat of Sports with the Crete Development Organization.
It is therefore clear that the National Swimming Pool, its safe operation and its upgrade, so that - finally - it suits our sporting society and its requirements, is a priority for the leadership of the Deputy Ministry of Sports, as the Deputy Minister of Sports had stated during his visit.
In addition, since the end of July, the second installment of the regular grant, amounting to 465,000 euros, was credited and within the next few days, the staff of the Public Health Service is expected to be reinforced with 13 people, through the community service program, in specialties such as Civil Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Electrician, Nursing staff and auxiliary staff.
