After the end of the visit of the Deputy Minister of Sports, Mr. Lefteris Avgenakis to Chania, the president of the EAK, Mr. Takis Svourakis, in a statement after thanking the Deputy Minister, expressed his belief that, despite any difficulties, the Committee, in collaboration with all bodies, will do whatever is necessary to find solutions to the chronic problems of the city's sports facilities.

"I would like to thank the Deputy Minister of Sports, Minister LEFTARI AVGENAKIS, for his immediate response to all the actions that had been... frozen.. let's see again up close and discuss the immediate BIG problems of the sports family of CHANIA.

And especially at the Nea Chora Swimming Pool where all the children of Chania swim!!
He expressed his understanding and desire to accelerate all procedures for the final implementation of the upgrade of the facilities of the Chania Public Health Service and beyond (see Kissamos 2,000,000 euros and Sfakia 350,000 euros with ready-made studies). He emphasized the need for extroversion and cooperation from all stakeholders, speaking in simple and understandable language.
He assured me and assured us as a committee that he will be by our side so that our facilities operate as smoothly as possible, especially at the Chania swimming pool, with the necessary cooperation from all sides until the long-awaited energy upgrade of the facility is implemented.
I explained to the minister the necessity of operating the two smaller tanks and the prospects for them to operate without a roof now.
Similarly, at the National Stadium of Chania, it is unthinkable that the OLYMPIC and WORLD CHAMPIONS OF CHANIA cannot use the weightlifting room and train in FIELDS!!
Also, all athletics clubs and more no longer have space to employ their academies and other competitive departments, which is so necessary for the development of classical sports!!
I also mentioned the problems we have in our other facilities, the biggest of which is the lack of staff!
The Minister pledged to be in constant contact because the issues that matter most concern the entire sports family of Greece, the sports family in Chania and further the DEVELOPMENT OF CHANIA!!”
