PRESS RELEASE
The Deputy Ministry of Sports, in collaboration with the Cyprus Sports Organization, the Romanian Ministry of Youth and Sports and the University of Peloponnese, submitted for approval an application on the subject of "the application of good governance rules in amateur football"
Putting into practice the government's commitment to extroversion in the field of sports, the Deputy Ministry of Sports took the initiative for the first time in history to lead an transnational consortium and submit a proposal for the European Commission's "Erasmus+ Sport 2020" program!
The proposal - application for the "Implementation of good governance rules in amateur football", in collaboration with the Cyprus Sports Organization, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Romania and the University of Peloponnese, aims to highlight the importance of implementing good practices in the field of amateur sports and the exemplary sporting role that the administrative agents of amateur clubs can perform.
The scientific research to be carried out will focus on amateur football clubs from the top national divisions of Greece, Cyprus and Romania. The data collected will be compared with the corresponding teams from League 2 of the English Football League.
The fundamental objective of the proposal for this program is that the results and conclusions of the study that will emerge will form the basis for a better organization of amateur clubs. And these, in turn, will be able to be more easily harmonized with modern European trends in the implementation of good governance rules.
The introduction of modern models of good governance will contribute to the prevalence of a sport that will be governed by transparency, that will prioritize the athlete and his needs and will highlight good and fair administration.
