A new meeting with representatives of the clubs that use the National Stadium of Chania was held on Friday afternoon at the administration offices, in the presence of journalists from the city's media.

The president of the Board of Directors of the Chania Regional Administrative Organization, Takis Svourakis, emphasized, once again, that from the 1or As of June, the owner of the installation is now the contractor for the energy upgrade of the electric lighting.

"At the meeting last Thursday, we had emphasized that an effort would be made to reach an agreement with the contractor, in order to adopt the proposal of Mr. Markos Kaloudis, so that two-hour or three-hour afternoon training sessions would be held in half or in an area of the stadium that the contractor would indicate. You were presented with the two documents from the General Secretariat of the Federation and the contractor, that is, the stadium essentially belongs to the contractor as of yesterday, June 1. We agreed to propose Mr. Kaloudis' proposal to the contractor. So the contractor came, settled in, inspected the site and decided to close it. We called him and he told us something even better, that by Tuesday, June 6, the lights would be hung and there is a serious possibility that part of the stadium could be opened. The project is already underway today and the EAK administration is making every possible effort to serve the children of the Panhellenic Games and the athletes who really need to train. The project must be completed by August 13 because the second extension it has received is also expiring. The stadium administration is with you, it is with the athletes and wants the best possible offer from the facility. As for the issue that was heard about the concert, it has indeed been planned, but it has nothing to do with the issue of electric lighting," emphasized Mr. Svourakis.

"We want the project to be done and we are not discussing it. However, everyone's goal is to serve the athletic youth of Chania. The decision was not made by the EAK administration, but by the General Secretariat of the Sports and Recreation and they obviously did not know the needs that exist. The reaction was because we learned very suddenly that the stadium was closing. So let's calm down, let's close the issue here. Since the contractor has said that he may open part of the stadium next Tuesday, I think we all agree. We are satisfied with this development", noted Mr. Sakis Kouvatsos, president of A.O. KYDON.

"The contractor should be pressured to complete the hanging of the lighting fixtures by Tuesday, as he told you, so that part of the stadium can be opened for training," said SEGAS' technical advisor in Crete, Markos Kaloudis.

"The General Secretariat unfortunately threw the hot potato at the General Secretariat to manage a situation that was difficult from the start. I suggest that all clubs send letters or a joint one to the General Secretariat in order to find a solution and allow the children to come inside to train," pointed out Mr. Tasos Maragoudakis on behalf of the Directorate of Secondary Education, which has already communicated a relevant document to the General Secretariat regarding the problem that has arisen.

Finally, it should be noted that there was also communication between the Secretary General of Sports, Giorgos Mavrotas, and the president of SEGAS, Sofia Sakorafa, in order to provide an immediate solution.
