So that everyone knows the truth regarding the issue of the new boiler at the Chania swimming pool and the reasons why the Acceptance Committee rightly did not proceed with its acceptance, the P.E. of the Public Works Department publishes the conclusion of the independent expert following his relevant technical report.
In detail:
Surface corrosion is detected on the steel above the weld seam of the steel front tube plate with the stainless steel sheet at the bottom of the boiler.
Examining the supplier's "Technical description of proposed machines" which states that "The second and third path flame tubes as well as the front mirror are made of 316L stainless steel" we find that there is no compliance with the above as mentioned above, on the contrary we have steel gas tubes with stainless steel turbulators within them and steel tube plates (mirrors).
Regarding the welding of different metals, as mentioned above in the comments, the manufacturer should clarify based on which standard this boiler construction is planned or what anti-corrosion agents are applied for it.
Audit conclusion
According to the inspection carried out taking into account the technical description of the supply of a new boiler - burner of the technical employee B.K. and the technical description of the proposed machines of the supplier C……, we find that there are relevant discrepancies… EAn entirely stainless steel boiler would have longer lifespan compared to a steel one in a corrosive environment like the Chania swimming pool…
