World number three Emmanuela Katzouraki and coach George Salavantakis were "drowned" in the embraces of their relatives and friends upon their arrival at "Daskalogiannis" airport.
The Chania Sports and Recreation Association, in collaboration with the “Vardas” shooting club, Fraport Greece and the Cretan Workshop – Lampakis Family, organized a small welcoming ceremony at the airport's CIP arrivals hall, with the Chania athlete and her coach being received in an emotional atmosphere by their families.
Present were the president of the D.E., Takis Svourakis, the member of the D.E. and responsible for the shooting range, Vangelis Lampakis, the vice-president of the Federation and former president of the D.E. of the Chania Shooting Club, Manolis Kouridakis, the director of the Federation, Panagiotis Smyrilios, the president of the “Vardas” shooting club, Eleni Karampinaki, the families of Emmanouela Katzouraki and Giorgos Salavantakis,
But what followed outside the arrivals hall was truly unprecedented... Dozens of Emmanuela's friends, relatives and fellow athletes hugged her, setting a date for gold at the Paris Olympics.
