The National Sports Center of Chania informs the city's sports community that, at the request of Sports club Disabled people
GROWTH for use of the swimming pool in the month of August, by its member, gold Paralympic champion Antonis Tsapatakis, the Management Committee, after consultation with the O.A.K. and the project contractor, decided to grant an extension of one
month, i.e. until August 31, in order for him to continue his preparation for his participation in the world championship without any problems. The management of the E.A.K. Chania, understanding the importance of the participation of the aforementioned athlete in such a high-level event, approved the extension of the facility's operation, despite the fact that the request was not submitted with the
foreseen, formal procedure, but it was initially announced through a post on the athlete's social networks, which surprised us. Nevertheless, the decision was self-evident, given the seriousness of the athlete's preparation. We remind you that for any relevant request, the administration of the E.A.K. Chania is the only competent body which, with a view to the orderly and
safe operation of the facilities, examines and decides responsibly on the approval or not of any extension or exception. Finally, we inform you that until August 31, the Chania swimming pool will remain open and accessible to all Chania residents, athletes and citizens until the start of the necessary work of the historic reconstruction of the facility, which will mark a new era for local sports.
From the E.D. of the E.A.K. of Chania
