The first meeting of the new Managing Committee of the Chania Public Swimming Association was held on Wednesday evening, in the presence of the NOX presidium, given that the main topic of discussion - apart from the rest of the agenda - was how the Nea Chora swimming pool will operate from now on smoothly and without problems.
On the initiative of the president, Ms. Sofia Tsismenaki, and with the agreement of the members of the Board of Directors, an extraordinary grant of 70,000 euros has already been requested from the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, and specifically the Deputy Minister of Sports, Ioannis Vroutsis, in order to be allocated for the heating and chlorination needs of the Nea Chora swimming pool until the end of the year.
At the same time, in a spirit of cooperation and assertiveness with the NOX, but also in consultation with the members of parliament of Chania and the Local Government (Sub-Region, Municipality), the Director of the Chania Public Health Agency will request an extraordinary grant - in addition to the budget for 2024 - to cover the heating needs of the swimming pools, as well as the purchase of a "blanket" to cover the 50-person pool, so that the water temperature remains as constant as possible.
As agreed with the president of NOX, in the coming days, a meeting will be sought with the MPs, in order to form a demanding framework towards the Ministry.
