In the presence of the three-time Olympic gold medalist and general secretary of the Panhellenic Weightlifting Federation, Pyrros Dimas, the qualifying matches for the Panhellenic Weightlifting Championship were held in the indoor gym of the National Stadium of Chania.
The competitions were organized by AO Kydon and the Greek Weightlifting Federation.
At the same time, Pyrros Dimas was in Chania on the occasion of the creation of a weightlifting section by the OAH.
In his statements, Pyrros Dimas praised the work being done at the local level in weightlifting, describing Crete as the "home" of the sport, while also referring to the assistance of the Greek Weightlifting Federation in recent years to get the sport of strongmen back on its feet.
