The Chania Regional Office is proceeding with the collection of essential items for the suffering Ukrainian people, following an initiative by the Deputy Minister of Sports, Lefteris Avgenakis.

Specifically, in collaboration with the Hellenic Red Cross, the following will be collected at all sports facilities in the country, in order to be sent to Ukraine:

  • Evaporated milk
  • Milk powder for children
  • Canned goods of all types
  • Cereals
  • Nuts
  • Flour
  • Pasta
  • Legumes

The items will be collected at the offices of the EAK Chania and will be forwarded to Athens in collaboration with the Regional Department of the Red Cross.

Next Monday, May 23, a special event will be held at 12 noon at the ECA Central Administration office.

“Our country, from the very beginning, has expressed our full sympathy and practical support for the hard-hitting Ukrainian people. Greece, the birthplace of the Olympic Games and the Olympic Principles, the cradle of the athletic ideal, remains an unwaveringly strong guardian and supporter of the principles of Olympism. And at the core of the Olympic idea lies, of course, peaceful coexistence and cooperation and solidarity between peoples,” Mr. Avgenakis points out in a statement.
