Legislative regulation will solve the problem that has arisen with the urban planning permit and the Building Service of the Municipality of Chania for the Nea Chora Swimming Pool, so that work on its reconstruction can now proceed smoothly, as the studies that were assigned to the Crete Development Organization are being completed.
This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Sports, Lefteris Avgenakis, who was in Chania and had a meeting with the President and members of the Managing Committee of the Chania Sports Association, as well as with the CEO of the Chania Sports Association, Aris Papadogiannis and the Board of Directors of the Chania Nautical Club, as well as the Deputy Governor of Chania, Nikos Kalogeris.
Responding to a relevant question, he clarified that this specific regulation will concern exclusively the Chania Swimming Pool and not the coastline in general.
"It will only be for the installation. An analytical, detailed, careful mapping was done to see where we are in terms of urban planning and what is happening, and we proceeded with this arrangement," said Mr. Avgenakis.
At the same time, responding to a relevant question about the issue that has been created by the payment of 5 euros/month for the issuance of an entrance card to the National Stadium facilities, Mr. Avgenakis noted that a certain order is finally being put in place, but also that this specific measure applies to all public transport in the country. He reserved the right to give answers from the floor of Parliament to a relevant question from the KKE.
The Deputy Minister of Sports also had the opportunity to discuss with the Chania Sports Complex Management all the current issues they are concerned with, mainly that of energy upgrading, which includes a series of interventions in all the facilities, with the main one being the replacement of the lighting fixtures and maintenance of the stadium's pillars.
Mr. Avgenakis also referred to the Registry of Associations, the anti-doping organization, but also to the grants that have been given throughout Greece, with a main emphasis on amateur sports, citing as a typical example the 83,000 euros that were paid, money that, as he said, the Club had never received in the past.
Finally, he congratulated the administration of the Chania Public Health Office for the work being done at all levels, noting that there is control everywhere and order has been restored and rules have been set for operation.
