The Managing Committee of the Chania Sports and Recreation Association announces the suspension of work related to the targeting of lighting at the National Stadium of Chania.

It is noted that the specific works were deemed necessary following a relevant order from the General Secretariat of Sports to the Managing Committee of the Chania Sports Complex, essentially constituting a project that is part of its own planning.

From the very beginning, the voice of the clubs was heard, which was never marginalized, while the pressure on the athletes in their efforts to achieve the goals they have set was fully recognized. For this reason, the relevant information was provided to the clubs approximately two months before the start of the works, with the initial planning foreseeing their implementation during a period during which there were practically no scheduled events at the stadium, specifically between the holding of the Venizelio Dromo and the 10th Crete Marathon, the finish of which will take place inside the National Stadium of Chania.

Nevertheless, this is an absolutely necessary work, which, upon completion, will significantly contribute to improving the quality of lighting at the National Stadium of Chania, upgrading the overall sports conditions.

In consultation with the clubs, it was decided to postpone the work for next summer, specifically for the period between August 15 and 30, when it will be possible to implement it with the least possible impact on the operation of the stadium.

Following the above, the National Stadium of Chania, starting this afternoon, is once again made available to clubs and athletes for the uninterrupted conduct of their training sessions.

The Managing Committee of the Chania Sports and Recreation Center remains in constant collaboration with all involved bodies, aiming at the smooth operation of the facilities and the support of sports activity.
