The National Sports Center of Chania (NAC Chania) is a Legal Entity of Public Law. It was established in 2000 by Presidential Decree 54/2000, according to which the National Stadium of Chania and the National Nautical Sports Center of Chania were abolished as entities. Subsequently, by Law 4002/2011, the National Shooting Range of Chania was abolished as an entity and merged with the NAC Chania. The operation of the NAC Chania is governed by the provisions of Law 423/1976 ("On Gyms and Regulation of Issues Relating to Extracurricular Sports"), Presidential Decree 456/1988 ("Organization and Operation of Gyms"), Ministerial Decision 17112/2000 ("Regulations on the Operation of the National and Municipal Gyms of the Country") and the Legislative Decree "On Accounting of Legal Entities", as amended and in force.
